City of Nashville Receives Project of the Year Award The City of Nashville announces that its municipal utility operation has been awarded the Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia’s Project of the Year Award for the Southern Region. The designation for Nashville’s natural gas system is being honored by in conjunction with the City of Tifton Natural Gas. In order to qualify for the award, the municipality must complete a project that promotes and grows the natural gas system the previous calendar year. The City of Nashville worked with The City of Tifton to provide natural gas for agricultural customers in Berrien County. In 2011, the two cities came together and
added miles of natural gas lines to meet the needs of agricultural customers throughout Berrien County The announcement was shared with Nashville and Tifton at the Municipal Gas Authority Annual Membership Meeting on May 15, 2012 in St. Simons. The Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia’s Annual Membership Meeting is the culmination of each year’s efforts and activities to provide affordable and reliable natural gas
service for each municipal member. The Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia was based on joint action to bring affordable, reliable and safe natural gas to municipalities. The Cities of Nashville and Tifton are perfect illustrations for the model of joint action on this project. Natural Gas Superintendent, Peter Shultz, City Manager/Finance Director, Mandy Luke, and Assistant City Manager, Randy Lane were all there to accept the award for the City of Nashville. Commenting on the award, Mandy Luke, City Manager/Finance Director said, We are truly honored to receive the Project of the Year Award for Nashville. It is a tribute to our employees for their commitment to provide natural gas for their community and promote financial stability for the City of Nashville. Many hours were spent planning, installing, and completing the connections for the natural gas line. I would like to commend everyone who played a role in making sure this project was completed. A special thanks to Peter Schultz, our Natural Gas Superintendent, for all of his hard work and dedication to this project.
